About this event

Seashore Trolley Museum welcomes active volunteers and staff from fellow trolley and transit museums and organizations for NEATO's Annual Winterfest! Join us from Friday, March 15 -Sunday, March 17 at our locations in Kennebunkport, Maine and Lowell, Massachusetts for learning, fellowship, and trolley fun.

We have a great slate of activities planned for all three days. Winter in Maine can be unpredictable; while we hope that we'll experience 70 degree weather like we had at last year's event in Baltimore, we coastal Mainers know that's not going to be in the cards for us. So, in addition to the traditional opportunities to guest operate trolleys on our main line, we have a full schedule of indoor and outdoor activities available, including workshops, presentations, demonstrations, a Night Photo Shoot (Saturday), behind-the-scenes tours, and so much more. Guests will also get to enjoy work equipment, speeders, and our pump car! Fun social activities are also planned, including Bingo for transit-related and other fun prizes, printmaking using trolley parts, and more.

Here is an overview of our schedule to help you plan your trip--a detailed schedule is available at https://trolleymuseum.org/winterfest

Friday, March 15

11AM-4PM: On your way to Seashore, visit the National Streetcar Museum at Lowell, a satellite museum of Seashore Trolley Museum, and ride on New Orleans No. 966. The Lowell museum is located an hour and fifteen minutes south of Seashore, at 25 Shattuck Street, Lowell, MA 01852.

1PM-8PM: Seashore Festivities begin! Experience our trolley fleet and more on our main line, workshops, demonstrations, behind-the-scene tours and more! A pizza, salad and more dinner will be served starting at 5PM. Seashore Trolley Museum is located at 195 Log Cabin Road, Kennebunkport, Maine 04046.

Saturday, March 16

9AM-10PM: Seashore Festivities. Operate on our main line, participate in workshops, demonstrations, behind-the-scenes tours, presentations and more. Registration includes a light breakfast, snacks and beverages throughout the day, a soup and sandwich lunch with a taste of Maine dessert, and a local favorite food truck dinner. The 85th Anniversary of the Streetcar Preservation Movement will be celebrated throughout the day. Spend time in our brand new Maine Central Model Railroad Building. Take docent-guided behind-the-scenes tours of our various carhouses and Restoration Shop. Presentation topics include Mass Transit, A Transformation of Society, track maintenance, trolley operational best practices, Seashore's Rapid Transit Vision and MBTA Blue Line Tour, establishing a museum endowment, and more. The day will end with an organized Night Photo Shoot.

Sunday, March 17

8AM-12PM: It is impossible to see and experience all things Seashore in one day. Before you begin your journey home, check out all of the things on campus you missed the day/s prior. Spend time in the Maine Central Model Railroad Building and operate our layout. Additional presentations will be offered, including The History of STM and Trolleys in Maine, Scenes from Early Seashore Days, and Engaging the Community in the Modern Era to inspire attendance, creating emotional connections, inspiring donations, and building visibility for museum projects. Snacks and beverages will be available throughout the morning.
